Knowing   Becoming   Reaching

The Rockwall and Brin Youth Group is a place where all youth [grades 7th through 12 th] can find a place to belong. RBYG members are encouraged to seek to know God, become more Christ like, and reach out into the world. We invite all youth to belong at RBYG.

BRING A FRIEND AND YOUR BIBLE!

Food for Thought...

This week marks the beginning of school for most of the youth and children at Rockwall and Brin.  It's an exciting time, but can also be stressful, nerve-wracking, and a little bit scary, for students as well as parents.

One of our biggest priorities in the church is to care for one another as we face challenges and difficulties in our lives.  (Sometimes we call this 'pastoral care,' which basically means that we care for one another like Jesus cares for us.)  This especially true in our youth and children's ministries.  You parents and adults have a unique opportunity as school starts to make sure that other parents and their kids are doing ok as they cope with the challenges that come with the start of the school year.  You students also have a unique opportunity to care for other students--especially those younger than you--as they start school this fall.

So, let's make this congregation (and the youth and children's ministries that are part of it) a place where we care for each other and point out where we see God at work in our lives.  Parents and adults, call up some of the other parents and ask how they're doing--especially those you know who have children in school for the first time.  Offer to pray for them, listen to them, and maybe share some wisdom with them if you've been there before.  And ask the kids you see at church how they're doing with school.  Offer to pray for them as well.  Students, you can do the same!  Ask your friends how they're coping with the new school year and offer to pray for them.  Be sure to watch out for the younger kids, especially those who are new to your school.  Let's be a church that others can point to and say, "God is working in that church."

May God bless you as you start this new school year!
